《神奇树屋》系列每一本的架构都基本相同，通过孩子在树屋中看书，随后进入到了一个时点、地点，开始冒险。因此对小读者来说是一个熟悉的故事框架、角色，孩子更容易理解，吸引他们读下去，更容易有成功的自主阅读的喜悦。书中的主人公杰克和安妮的每一次冒险，都是通过看一本相关的书籍开始，这对于重视学生阅读的教学体系来说，有一种阅读示范和不断强化的作用，能让孩子们在不知不觉中爱上阅读。
《神奇树屋》系列建立了简单的词汇网，孩子在遇到生词时，不必中断阅读或停下来查字典，而是可以借助图片或者上下文的同义词、近义词和反义词来猜词。这样可以培养孩子对生词的容忍程度，扩大词汇量，提高阅读速度和理解能力。
